summer holydays

I really love the idea of be on vacations, but I have to say it... I hate summer and all related to it: the heat, wear sandals, the beach, the sand but  in special summer tv shows.
Anyway, but even with that I have many and good memories of my vacations, one of those special moments was when my familly and I went to Caldera and Chañaral when I was just like four or five years old, but I have a lot of memories of that but all related to how I felt the weather, you know; the wind, the sky in the morning and stuff like that.
the last sumer was crazy, all my familly went together to coñaripe to a housevery close near to a lake and it was a great time in special with my cousins, aunts and uncles. If I think about it I have been in a lot of places in my country and the most of them were amazing vacations with my people, but I would like to go to other country in special those in my continent and then the European  ones. I  have been in brazil once and it was also great, but I spend my time there drinking and making nonesences with my fellas, the weather was amazing and the food to, I have ejoyed that so much than I danced a lot there and I hate dance, haha, what a paradox don't you think?

 post-gradatue studies

oh damm, my mom always told me that I must get a master after I graduate,. I do not know if I want to but I understand why my mom told me that, it is known that artist (and art itself) do not get paid well in our country unless you have a master and a doctorat, you know, that kind of stuff.
I want to learn more, obviously, but I kinda tired of the educational institutions and how they works. If you ask I would like teach or something like that, and I want to learn more, but more of everything  and  in the art world I do not know and I am not sure if those degreel will guarantee  me a true art-level of expertise. and, they are really necessarily? I do not know but and I don' think so, and perhaps that is because I am an inmature guy and I am still related to my nerd stuff. well I guess tha art will allow me work and keep my geek stuff living even if I am getting a new degree.
I do not know what else to say related rto the post... maybe just end this saying that get a master in the death star would be great haha.

my future job.

Once upon time  a wise man said that there is no bad job, the bad thing is work. I not really sure of that but is a funny legend. anyway, I think that the first time that some one  asked me that I was  just a child and  I did not know what to answer and I that I do not know even yet. when I was a child I loves the cliche idea of be a fireman or that kind of stuff, so there the idea of be a cartoonist prevail for long time, perhaps that is why  now I am studying art. the point is that I have never being secure of what to do after studying, seriously I can't imagine myself working in an office or anything, this is hard for me because I know that in that way I can't be a child no longer and I have to take responsibilities as the (kind of) adult guy that I suppose to be. the problem here is that in this country as an artist I have not many options of an ideal Job. And if you ask I guess that I want (or just like how to sound the idea) to work in something related to education as a teacher or something really geek like in a lego store or a comic book store or a knight in a glorious kingdom, but I guess that one can’t be… for now.

My favourite song/ music album

Ok, this is a hard one, one of my hobbies have always be listening and play music, I try to listen as many music styles I can, but in my case are all related to rock in some way or another. when I was like 10 my favourite band used to be Iron maiden and the album "Powerslave" blew my mind and make me headbanding all the time, I guess you can imagine the pain in my neck in those years. from my 10's  like to my early fourteen I have listened all kind of metal, like you know: trash metal, heavy metal, industrial metal , nu metal , prog prog, power metal, death metal, black metal, and etc. Then I have a musical limbo were I did not know what to listen to and my dad, finally took seriously his role as a good father suposed to be (ha ha) and started to show me some music, and a really love two bands that he showed me which were Pink floyd and Emerson, lake and palmer. I have not a favourite band or album but I really enjoy them and listen a lot their music, in special the album "animals" by Pink floyd which is based on George Orwel's "animal farm" with his fabulous 18-minutes song "dogs", it is a wonderful album.
In the case of Emerson,Lake and palmer, they have a thing called " TARKUS" which is a conceptual album and an allegory for war, the A side of the album show  the 20 minutes namesake piece made of 7 songs full of complex music stuff made them a masterpiece.
I do not know if I can say that those are my favourites albums or songs, but I really love them an I listen them at least once for a week.

my favourite artist
in some kind of way it is funny the fact that I am studying art and I do not really know many artist, but I have a favourite artist anyway.
Just like a geek guy my interest in the world of the fine arts are related with comics, sci-fi and stuff like that. when I was a child I remember that I use to enjoy  a lot the artwork of guys like Moebius and Katsuhiro Otomo, if you look carefully the way these guys made fantastics worlds just with  a pencil, just amazing, nothing to say about it.
By the other hand as I say (in some way) before , I grew up  surounded by sci-fi and pop culture... I have a lot of memories of me scared and close to my parens or my brother because I saw a scary creature on the tv, one of those was the xenomorphe of the alien movies an then as a teeneager I descovered the guy behind that creature: H.R Giger. with a dark aura and weird bio-mechanic creatures he just blew up my mind and when I discovered that he also made the cover of the elp's album called brain salad surgery which is one of my favourite band ever, I loved him even more in that time.
these guys are important for me, even now that I have a large list of artist than then.

A country I would like to go.
I always wanted to travel arround the world, sound kinda magic all you can learn about other cultures, and I mean all the things you know that makes a culture/country diferent than other like: religion, history, colors, smells, people, world veiw, etc.I guess the for the same reason  countries like Mexico, Bolivia, New zealand, South africa resounds in my mind with the idea to go there some day. But I have a favourite one in my list, and that is Germany. if you ask it is even kinda unknown for me the specific reason why that country, maybe because how it  sounds the german (language), or his history (in special the medieval history events related things), his avang-garde in the music and art. I feel something special in the german culture, some kind of aura in how I think they percive things. Maybe I am wrong, and perhaps it is only an idealistic idea of how is really Germany but I guess that I will be sure only  if I go there.
But anyway, the world  is interesting and if you ask any place is rich at his own way.

Blogging Experience

I am not sure if it is the last time that I am writiting  in this blog, but i can say that I have enjoyed it (until now) a lot, it was the first time that I have been writing on the net for a long  period of time and it was really fun talking about interesting stuff, that was very cool ( i guess) from my point of veiw.
I have to say that  it was a interesting exercise to (re) start to write and think in english, which I haven't used it  since  my last year of school with formal classes or played magic (I mean write or speak it).  it was kind of difficult at the beginning of this first semester because I felt a litle out of practice and I guess I was, but this helped me a lot, and plus  the many nonesences that I watch and read on the net and the sixth season of game of thrones( which it was amazing by the way).
here I have to talk about me, about my career, friends, comics, music, aliens, consoles, video games and a long etc and it was good, really good, maybe I should keep doing it, but this time by my own stuff which are not too diferent that the things I wrote before haha, but anyway, well, I guess I wonder what will happen.
see you later alligator.

Travels (yeah)

I am not a guy who love adventures or somethig related to it, but I have traveled anyway and  I have enjoiyed those trips.
I remember a lot when, for vacations, we (my family and I) went to Caldera, near to Copiapo, when I was just like five, so I do not have many memories about the place by itself, but I remember how I felt the beach. In personal I hate beaches, sand and the crowd of people around of it. but in Caldera was diferent, the sand was diferrent, kinda  gray or |white and the sea wasn't so cold...
I have no memories about other thing of that place, but the one I have is unvaluable for me.

I also went to Camboriu in Brazil in 2013 in our "studies trip" but we all know that is no true, no one studies there, there was just vacations with your classmates and a teacher.
in Brazil I used to spend time in activities in the morning  with all the class and in the night I used to  hang out with my friends, sometimes we eat, sometimes we just talk and made laught about us, and sometimes we get (really) drunk. but I am really sure that I have enjoiyed that place not for the weather, beaches or stuff, I have enjoied because I was there with my friends , and that time with those guys was the best.

"A Subject I've enjoyed studying this semester"

In this semester I have really enjoyed almost all my subjets, I remember that I have never feelt that in school so I guess now I have a diferent perception  about what I have to study and what I like to study and do.
Today I am in my second year on my arts studies in the university but  my favourite subjet it is the same of the last year, my dwaing class.
I do not have much to say about it, I love draw by itself since allways, in fact, I am very sure that I have told you that some blogs ago.
Right now my drawing classes are made by the teacher known as Iñaki, he teach using a technical draw method  and a very experimental (way for a art student I guess) at the same time (weird huh), developing body (arm, hand and eye) skills which make your draw secure, mature and precise by a system of box construction. Its a thechnical and tedious way to learn but, I have to say it but it worth it.
When the course began we started drawing things like washbasins and toilets inside imaginary boxes, and by the time that way to draw allow us build in the paper everything in a technical way making our sketches look really awesome.

A career-related website

Damm, a dificult topic ,ha, I really dont have a favorite webs site related directly with my career, but I have some pages (and youtube channels) which I take most of my inspitation.
the first one is a youtube channel called "nerdist", they make movies,tv series and video games review, its well known that I take a lot of that -geek- world to make my oun stuff related with arts, but the special of this channel is one section wich is called "because science", is the reason why I spend hours in youtube and how I discovered "nerdist", in this section guys explain (or try to) how it works science in fiction, you know, like  superheroes powers, futuristics machines, why something should work or not in our (real) world.
Also I cant work without music, in special prog rock which is my actual favourite music genre, so the second page have a lot of prog album reviews, comments, and the most important: music and free download links, a lot of them (yeah). the page is "progarchive.com" and, its amazing, they upload reviews as I sayed before  and new abums all day everyday, it is like the music nirvana for me in internet.

Well, technically an U.F.O means :unidentified flying object, but people use it to talk about aliens (yeah).I have always been in love with sci-fy, and perhaps for that reason edI used to be very obsession with other kinds of life in the universe at one point of my life. As a child I tried to see an ufo several times with my telescope and I failed a lot, so I do not know if I am guy with bad luck or they dont want to be seen, yet (put the x files opening theme here), but no matter anyway I believe in the existence of life in other planets beyond ours, in fact, the idea of us like the only life form in the galaxy is ridiculous.
U.F.O or aliens are an interesting topic to talk about because, you can talk seriouly about them or how we see them by pop culture. And that is why we have a lot of kinds of aliens in movies or novels like: the autobots, Xenomorphs, the martians on mars attack, E.T, and most of the guys in star wars.
I really enjoy the fact that maybe we will never see or make contact with one of these creatures, because that ignorance allow us to keep imagining stories of aliens.

about my favourite photo.

Right now I don’t have one, perhaps because I love a  lot of pictures, most of them are memes or cartoon photos, so it was very difficult for me to choose one of them, so I will show you two pictures which are very different one from the other.

you already know, as I said some posts ago, that I love music, so lets go to the first picture :

He was Keith Emerson, considered one of the most important keyboard and piano player in rock history. In the photo he is playing a Moog modular synth, maybe in the middle 70s. He died the last march by suicide, so it was a great lost for rock.

And the second one

We all know that batman is a cool guy, but it was not cool like we understand for the people in the 60s and 70s, he was a groove guy in a colourful bat suit (and probably the joker was an LSD addicted in this age ha ha). it was a funny batman for a less darker era for cinema and TV. this image crashes with how we see superheroes in the 21st century, trying to be serious and represent ideals and symbols and stuff, and that is why I love it.
I think that’s it.

about music.

Music is a very important thing for a guy who has spent a lot of time dreaming with dragons and space ships, like me. Perhaps because I have being influenced by movies and books since always, so, most of the music that I actually listen has pretentious themes like the origin of something or fantasy stories, etc, etc, etc.
But I haven’t been  always like this, when I was a child I used to listen kind of pop or some kid stuff like almost everyone, except for gorillaz, I love them since their first album.
Music is a way to say things, its a kind of language, so that means music is something complex, perhaps anyone can play an instrument but not everyone can be a good musician, is like a world view, people sometimes just don’t get them and it's fine, the problem with music is that people don’t even try to understand and i think that is why actual pop music is just crap.

Just like books an mythology have influenced me in a lot of ways, my dad is guilty to get me inside rock music. I was like 10 years the first time that I  listened to The number of the beast with him. I think that it was like showing a space machine to a cavern man, I felt excited by that fast song, a year after I started my electric guitar and  music classes, I was there for 5 years and I learned a lot, I fell in love with blues, jazz and classical music (and that’s the moment when I turned into a pretentious guy ha ha ha) and I discovered bands like Rhapsody which are power metal (they sing about dragons, knights and stuff), to king crimson which are prog rock. currently I am listening a lot of prog rock because of its complexity in the music structure and lyrics.

some usual prog rock joke (I really love the second one)

my favourite piece of technology:

I am not sure if  I have told you this yet , but to understand a lot of things about me you have to know that I am a geek, and as a geek I really love things like comics, action figures, collection figures and videogames, they are my ignition fuel to talk about my favourite technology device, which are consoles, videogames consoles.
technically  they are just made for the fun and recreation of the players, who can be anyone (and perhaps if you want to annoy your mum, i dont know why but mums dont like consoles and stuff).
the first generation of consoles was made in the 60s, someone told me once that they were created for some kind of militar development, I dont know if that is true, but who (really, really) cares?. anyway, they were very basic, I mean simple desing of games and movement patterns. Now, almost 50 years after, gaming consoles are as complex as a computer and businessmen invest millions in its development.
as a gamer i have being interested in this topic since the first time I have touch a nintendo 64 like 14 years ago (damm, that is in fact a lot of time). but my first console was a playstation 2 which was my tenth birthday. now I am owner of a playstation 3 and I havent played videogames since summer,  the last game was metal gear solid 5: the phantom pain and I have spend like (and not joking) almost 115 hours of pure gaming (and tactical espionage action).

why did I choose this career?

Well, I really do not know, but when I was a child I use to love the idea of being a cartoonist or a "master builder"( master builder is how guys in lego company call the toy designer of the brand) and I think that I still want to be both.
I have  lots of memories of myself drawing as a kid, I can say that comics and cartoons are important in this point cause I drew cause of them, and that is funny cause my mum says that I have been drawing characters like batman and spider-man since I was really really young and until today,  and she is right.  I can say that, perhaps, the reason of why I chose to study arts is because I just wanted to do something related to me and what I really love  doing. For me drawing is not a hobby, drawing  has left a mark, a mark that means that I left part of me on it.
well, being close to music its also an influence in how I feel things and my abstract thoughts.
I think that is why... or not?(insert dramatic music here).

About me
My name is Emilio Ignacio Ortiz Berrios, I was born on august 24th in 1996, so right now I'm close to my early 20´s. I am the second son of my parents: Gonzalo Ortiz and Maricarmen Berrios, and as I have told you -just a moment ago- I have a brother, an older brother in fact, he is the father of a wonderful 7-year old girl, so that makes me a really young uncle.
At age of 5 in the year 2002 I started my primary studies in altazor school, in puente alto, which is the place I have lived on since...always (ha). I made my secondary education in the same school, I have spent so much time in that school that I am part of its first (and complete) generation of students.
I  finished the school in 2014.
Back in in 2009 I started  to learn music and playing guitar.
One of my best friends and i tried to make a band several times , and all of them have failed. the first band we called argos, and we try to play trash metal, we used to play in a so awful way that it was literaly garbage.

In 2015 I started to study arts in the University of Chile, it wasn´t hard to chose a career for me, it was for my parents (in special my dad) to understand that I could not be something I didn´t want to. they understand now, or try to.
right now I am in my second year as an art student and it´s kinda hard, but i love what I do.

In this pictures I was  like 7 years old

I love this pic because my awful way to eat

I listen music all day every day (you know), like almost everyone in this century. And just like a normal guy i have a lot of music that i would like listen always, one of those songs is :"Atom heart mother". This is a piece of 25 minutes made by Pink floyd , and  it is  a complete (and insane haha) masterpiece of conceptual Prog rock from the homonymous album made by these guys in the early 70's.
His complexity, his unusual rhythm and infuences from clasic music make fell something that i can't even describe in my mother tonge.Trust me it's amazing and if you can, listen it.
